Sandra Brown is probably the greatest female long distance walker in the world.

Due to her top-3 position on the world ranking 24 hour Race walk women (200 km/ 24:04:20) and her 1ste place on the Centurion ranking << all continents >> (161 km/ 18:36:29), in combination with other exceptional performances and the longevity of her career, her amazing record is unequaled.

My best memories in my career that are indelible in my mind are in descending order:

♦ Setting an absolute top time in de UK Centurion 1984 in Leicester: 18 u 36' 29"
♦ My performance in the 200 km of Vallorbe (CH) 1991: 200 km in 24 u 04' 20"
♦ "The Manchester - Blackpool" Race walk 50 miles (= 80,467 km) at an average of more than 10 km/h: 7 h 54' 54"  
   The setting of a women's record under 8H was described by the Race Organiser as << the greatest exhibition of long distance walking ever seen in this country >>  
♦ Realizing an extraordinary performance in the 50 km Race walk of Basildon (GB) by setting a time under the 5-hour barrier: 4 h 50' 51"

Exceptional performances

a) Land's End to John o'Groats Walk 2006 (GB) ► 830 miles (= 1.336 km)

Sandra Brown completed this challenge over 1.336 km in 13 days & 10 hours at an average of +/- 100 km/ day. This record was only broken by English ultra legend Sharon Gayter.

b) The Nanango 1.000 Mile Race 1996 (AUS)

Only six men and one woman – Sandra Brown – finished 1.000 miles within the 15-day cut-off in this edition.

Gary Persons took the men's win ahead Uria of Spain and Peter Gibson of Australia.
Race walker Sandra Brown of Great Britain finished fifth and was the female winner in 14 days 10 hours 27 minutes and 20 seconds, a then 1.000 mile track world best.
