Date of birth   16-07-1952
Birthplace   Grodzisk Wielkopolski
Nationality   Poland

Zbigniew Klapa from Poland
probably the greatest long distance race walker of
the 20th century

This statement can be confirmed by his unrivaled, fabulous record on the mythic race Paris – Colmar over 520 km and the setting of amazing world performances in the qualifying races << long distance 200 km / 28 H >> in France, in combination with other exceptional performances.

Grodzisk Wielkopolski: the native country of the master

Marian Piszora, Klapa's physical education teacher at the technical college and Tadeusz Grabowski, a sports walker in Orkan Poznan Sport Club, have played a stimulating role in the launch of Klapa's sports career.
In the beginning, Klapa started on the distance of 10 and 20 km. But his best results were achieved later on the 50 km. In this discipline, between 1975 and 1983, he broke the Polish record twice.
In 1981, he was invited by the Fédération Française d'Athlétisme, abbreviated FFA, to participate in long distance competitions (= grand fond) in France.
