Richard Brown is a British world class athlete with quite impressive achievements. A true gentleman, charming, skillful and highly intelligent, as Sir Arthur Conan Doyles described his master detective Sherlock Holmes.  

Richard Brown is probably the greatest long distance walker in the UK.

This statement can be confirmed by his unequaled British record on the Centurion 100 mile and his amazing UK 200 km record in France, in combination with other exceptional performances.  

Best memories

My top three memories in my career that are indelible in my mind are in descending order:

♦ Setting an absolute world performance in the Continental Centurion 100 mile 1993 at Sint-Oedenrode/ The Netherlands: 100 EM (=160,934 km)   16 h 50' 28"   9,556 km/h   
♦ The dual successful finish (*) in the mythic race << Paris – Colmar 520 km >>
            * Sandra finished 2nd in the "women" race: 340 km in 51 h 48'
            * Richard     "       9th in the mythic race: 522 km in 73 h 29'  
♦ My victory in the 200 km Race walk in Bazancourt (France) 1992, awarded with a British record: 21 h 42' 41"

(*) Their performances in France were captured in a 52 minute BBC documentary.

Richard completed this challenge over 375 miles in a new record: 4 days 12 hours

2. Land's End to John o'Groats Walk 1995 (GB) > 830 miles (= 1.336 km)

Richard Brown covered the distance over 1.336 km in 10 days 2 hours 25 minutes at an average of +/- 130 km/ day. 

3. My previous UK 6 Days running performance recorded in New York 1988
